## What these compounds are studied for.

Semax is a fragment of ACTH studied for effects on BDNF expression and attention in animal models. Selank is derived from tuftsin and studied for anxiolytic activity without the sedation associated with benzodiazepines. P21 is derived from CNTF and studied for whether it crosses the blood-brain barrier and influences BDNF at the transcriptional level. A synthetic analogue of ACTH(4-7), Semax increases BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) expression, enhances dopaminergic and serotonergic turnover in the frontal cortex and limbic system, and supports working memory consolidation in research models.

#### Selank — Tuftsin Analogue

A heptapeptide analogue of tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro). Research reports effects on enkephalin catabolism and GABA-A receptor expression, and anxiolytic activity without sedation in animal models. Whether any of that translates to a person is not established.

#### P21 — Gene-Level Neuroplasticity

Derived from CNTF (Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor), P21 is designed to cross the blood-brain barrier and upregulate BDNF at the transcription level. Rodent studies report changes in BDNF expression and dendritic spine density.
