Affiliate FAQ: Codes, Promotions and Points

The short version: one discount code, plus their points. Your code and our WELLNESS promotions can’t be used together — a customer picks whichever gives them the better price. Their loyalty points work alongside either one.

This page is the full answer, with examples. If something a customer runs into doesn’t match what’s here, tell Charles rather than working around it.

Three separate things can take money off an order

  • Your code — your own partner code — the one shown in your Affiliate Area, usually your first name followed by 15. Gives your customer 15% off and earns you commission.
  • Our WELLNESS promotions — our own volume discounts, open to anyone: 10% at $150+, 15% at $300+, 20% at $600+. These earn you nothing.
  • Research Points — the customer’s own balance, earned by shopping. They earn 3 points per $1 spent, and 100 points is worth $1 off.

One thing to clear up, because the names invite it: WELLNESS15 and a 15% partner code both say “15%”, but they are completely different things. One is our promotion, one is yours. They don’t add together, and only yours pays you.

What combines with what

CombinationAllowed?
Your code + their pointsYes
A WELLNESS promotion + their pointsYes
Your code + a WELLNESS promotionNo — one or the other
Two WELLNESS promotionsNo — they’re thresholds, one applies

Your code and our promotions come out of the same pot. We’d rather that pot went to you and your customer than to a sitewide promo anyone can use.

Worked examples, on a $200 order

They use your code

15% off = $30. They pay $200 − $30 = $170. You earn commission on $170.

They use WELLNESS10 instead

10% off = $20. They pay $180 — a worse price than your code gave them — and you earn nothing, because no affiliate code was used. This is the one worth steering people away from. Your code is almost always the better deal for them and the only one that pays you.

They use your code and $15 of points

15% off = $30, then $15 of points. They pay $155. You earn commission on $155. Points are the customer’s own money, so they come off the order like any other discount, and commission follows the amount actually paid for the products.

The points cap

When points are combined with another code, up to 10% of the order subtotal can be paid with points. On a $200 order that’s $20.

If a customer has more than that banked, they choose: use your code and put 10% of their points toward the order, or spend their whole balance on its own without a code. Their remaining points stay in their account either way.

Points earned before 1 September 2026 have no cap and can be spent in full alongside your code. We’re not touching points people already earned.

What your customer sees if they try to combine

Nothing breaks. They’re simply asked to pick one:

“Affiliate codes and site promotions cannot be combined on the same order. Please use whichever one gives you the better price.”

“Only one promotional code can be used per order. Remove the promotion already applied if you would rather use this one.”

In normal use they shouldn’t see either one. Anyone arriving through your referral link no longer sees the WELLNESS codes advertised in the banner at the top of the site — they see a line confirming your discount is applied at checkout. Your code is added to their cart automatically; they don’t have to remember it or type it.

How you actually get credited

Your link is what credits you, not your code. When someone clicks your referral link, they’re tagged to you for 180 days. If they come back three weeks later, go straight to the site and order without touching a code, you are still paid.

And once someone counts as your customer, lifetime attribution keeps them yours — every future order credits you, whether or not they ever use your code again.

Your code is the backup, for someone who has never clicked your link — a friend you told in person, or a stranger you handed it to. Both routes work. The link is just the more forgiving of the two.

If someone you referred slipped through

It happens. You tell someone about us, they go straight to the site, order, and never touch your code or your link. As it stands you’d get nothing for that — which isn’t right, because you did the work.

So if you know of an order like that, tell Charles. Send a name or email and roughly when they ordered, and it will be linked to you and the commission paid.

It’s worth more than the one order, too — once a customer is linked to you, they stay linked. Everything they buy from then on credits you automatically.

Friends and family

They’re welcome to use your code, and you earn commission on those orders like any other. They’re often your first real customers and we’re not going to penalise that.

How your commission is calculated

Your rate is applied to the product subtotal after any discount, excluding shipping and tax. On a $100 order where your code takes 15% off, commission is calculated on $85.

Where to find your code and link

Both are in your Affiliate Area, along with your visits, referrals and earnings. If you’d like a QR code that goes straight to your link, or a shorter code that’s easier to say out loud, ask Charles and it will be set up for you.

Before you put anything in writing

Everything we sell is for research use only, and there are rules about how these products can be described. Before posting, printing or sending anything about us, read What You Can and Cannot Say — or just ask for approved wording. It’s easier to hand you something already checked than to have you guess.
