Overview
Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide (DSIP) is a naturally occurring 9-amino acid neuropeptide originally isolated by Marcel Monnier from thalamic perfusate capable of inducing slow-wave (delta) sleep in rabbits. Since its discovery and characterization in the 1970s, DSIP has accumulated a diverse published research base spanning sleep biology, neuroendocrine regulation, stress response modulation, and antioxidant mechanism research. Its interactions with multiple neurotransmitter systems — including opioidergic, serotonergic, and glutamatergic pathways — alongside published data on LH, somatostatin, and ACTH modulation have made DSIP an unusually multifaceted neuropeptide research subject.
What It Is
DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide) is a nonapeptide with the sequence Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu, MW approximately 849 Da, CAS number 62568-57-4. Despite its small size, DSIP has been reported in published research to cross the blood-brain barrier and is detectable in peripheral blood, cerebrospinal fluid, and multiple peripheral organs. Its published neuroendocrine effects include modulation of LH release, ACTH secretion, somatostatin secretion, and basal corticosterone, with additional published work on antioxidant enzyme activity and stress-protective properties in animal models.

Regulatory Status Note
On July 23–24, 2026, FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee reviewed whether BPC-157, TB-500, KPV, MOTS-c, Semax, Epitalon, and emideltide (DSIP) should be added to the 503A Bulks List for pharmacy compounding. The committee voted to recommend six of the seven; emideltide (DSIP) was not recommended. FDA’s own briefing documents had recommended against all seven.
A committee vote is a recommendation only. It does not constitute FDA approval, does not establish safety or effectiveness, and does not change the status of this product, which is sold strictly for research use. FDA must complete formal rulemaking before any substance is added to the list. Source: FDA Advisory Committee Calendar. Last reviewed: August 17, 2026.
